Day One – Annoying Traveler Sandwich

OK folks, it’s been a long day but we made it to the Mayan Riviera so here is a quick run down. First of all, I’d like to point out that I’m typing this message on my new 9 inch Linux laptop and my giant fat bigfoot American hands keep pressing all the wrong keys. ahdfkasjhfiawhfiguvavkawe. I guess smaller isn’t always better. That sounds like something my Mom taught me that I have kept near and dear to my heart, “if it has moving parts, it will break!”
Anyway, the plane ride over got off with an impressive start, you see AeroMexico loads the plane from the front and the back, a revolutionary idea but it was all down hill from there. The people in front of us had a screaming kid, I refered to all 3 by one collective name, Asian Poopie Diaper. The lady diagonal from us, I swear I told Alison we needed to make sure and not sit by here and her 4 kids… totalled failed at that. Across from us was some totally Xtreme! teens with sideways hats and plenty of Mountain Dew and Red Bull. And if that wasn’t enough right behind us we had Team Twenty Something Gold Diggers (again my name for them), I contemplated smashing my head through the window as they discussed in infinite detail their perfect weddings, what rings they will pick out for themselves, and how an old Mexican church would be just so adorable to get married in. To my knowledge, none of them had a gentleman caller… you know, just in case you were wondering.

Once we landed we jumped into our crazy Mexican driver’s van and spend off down the road breaking pretty much any traffic rule I could think of or even existed, except we didn’t ever have anyone surfing ontop of the car like that guy in the movie Teenwolf. Not Michael J Fox, the other guy. Don’t pretend you never saw that movie. You know it was good.

Enough about that, the resort is pretty sweet. We were greeted with Champagne or some kind of fizzy Kool-Aid beverage that reminded me of a line I learned at Christmas from Alison’s nephew Adam, who said it best with the following “WE DON’T EVEN DRINK KOOL-AID!” So we were able to survive the onslaught of tequila, beer, and crazy fu fu mixed drinks.

That’s it for now, hopefully post some pictures tomorrow.

The night before…

Hey everyone, it’s the night before we leave to Cancun and I have my mariachi outfit on just to make sure it still fits and that I can still effectively moonwalk while playing Axel F on an acoustic guitar.  Done and done.  Wait I mean. Terminado y terminando.

Interesting development, not related to Cancun but equally awesome, I installed a surround sound system in my living room all day today – instead of going to work, that’s pretty much in everyone’s face in the product design department. Anyway that’s not the story.  With the volume not even half way up you can hear it clearly from the street, yet Alison just asked me “if my TV has closed captioning” because she can’t hear!!!!!  Yikes, I think the sound system has possibly claimed it’s first victim.  Is Mexican sign language any different than regular sign language? More on that tomorrow.

Pics from waterproof camera

We’ve been back a while now, and I’m back from my trip to Florida, so I wanted to post a few more pics if anyone is still checking the blog. We got these pics from the rafting trip, so I wanted to show you some of the fun we were having.

Headed Home

Jeff and I are currently chilling at the Denver airport (I love airports with free wi-fi). We’ll be headed back to Austin in about 40 minutes. It’s been a great trip, but it’s always nice to get home. I wanna check on Reese and Jeff needs to check on his fish.

Our last day in Anchorage was pretty laid back. We went to lunch at the Twin Dragon Mongolian BBQ and Chinese buffet. Then, we went downtown and looked around at a few of the stores there. After that, we headed over to the Wildride Sled Dog Rodeo. It was a show on the Iditarod, a topic I did a report on in the 5th grade…I made a whole puppet show on all the different types of sled dogs. SO, this show really brought me back. We even got to meet Flap Jack from the movie Eight Below!!! It was cool. We’ll post pics later. That night I got to spend some time w/ Janie and the four of us went to dinner at a nice Italian place, Villa Nova.

Day 10: Drive back to Anchorage

Hi everyone! We’re still here in Alaska….one day left! Yesterday was pretty much just a long day of driving. We drove from Healy to Girdwood (to ride the tram to the top of a mountain) and then back to Anchorage. About 6 or so hours of driving. Ugh.

But, we did get lots of great scenery pics yesterday and many other days on the trip. So, here’s a small sample.

After we arrived in Anchorage, Janie and Jason grilled us up some yummy burgers and we sat around and chatted. That was pretty much our day.
